Your presence gave me worth,
when we were fresh
As I aged
Would I see
You’ve changed me.
Do I regret
No, you gave your all
With set limits.
I see time draw near,
I think not.
On to prove,
What I see,
Your insolence blocks
Of minor troops.
You play to win.
The dragon is out.
Slay the ones
Not of thee.
You’re at a New Year’s Party. It’s in full swing. The countdown begins. “HAPPY NEW YEAR”. Hugs and kisses all around. Then the dreaded, “So, what’s your resolution?” You’re full of joy, it’s another new year. Your turn to speak, “I’m going to ________” Insert any goal to finish that sentence.
Next year the same thing. Don’t beat yourself up because it hasn’t worked out.
Here’s the thing, we’ve all been there. Does anyone ever keep them? Does anyone care?
Deep down you’d love to be in the same spot next year, 25 lbs lighter, no longer a smoker, and…
When I watch a horror movie, I jump at the slightest sound. I get shivers up my spine. I break out in a cold sweat. I cover my eyes with my hands and I stuff my thumbs in my ears to block out any sound. Even Jurassic Park gives me nightmares.
When I’m out of my comfort zone, I get the same reaction. It doesn’t matter what I do. A road trip, a canoe trip or a flight on a plane. I get nervous and worry that dire consequences will occur when I venture out of where it’s safest.
Delicious food feeds my soul. It inspires me to want to bake. I want to eat all those delectable treats.
I love desserts although there is one particular item that ranks at the top.
I love chocolate more than any other food. It is a separate food group in my opinion.
I can eat it every day, anytime.
This is to address Chrissy Teigen on the loss of her loving son, Jack.
My dearest Chrissy:
I have been in your shoes, I too lost a child at a very young age. Karalin was 2 days old when we had to take her off of life support.
There is absolutely no way to ever prepare for the loss. It’s completely devastating and unless you go through it you can’t possibly understand.
I will start from my experiences and maybe that will help you with your experiences. I wish you all the very best.
When you tweeted about leaving the…
What happens when you get scammed? When you realize it, you feel ashamed. You shouldn’t though. Why not? These people are different from you and me.
They’re smooth. When you question them, they play a passive-aggressive game. It makes you doubt yourself.
I’m here to say, if you begin to feel that way, run in the opposite direction. Who cares if you hurt their feelings. This is about your hard-earned money. The onus should be on the contractor to make the job as pain-free as possible.
You’ve decided on a project. Doesn’t matter if it’s big or small. You want…
Days propelled forward. Blend into the next. Closed in finality. Dispersed in memory.
How many do we squander? As each dawn recalls the birth of ideals. A renewal of opportunity on order.
By midday, tiredness penetrates bones. The hunter’s quarry of warming rays. Despite the coldness of self.
This mysterious life unwinds. Ticks away each tock. Shallow winds filter leaves.
Too wrapt in study to ponder intricacies of measured habits. Rote of nature. Day by day. Year in, year out.
We all have something to offer the world. I see your work every day. Why? To answer the call from within.
You squeak out one more word. Come on, make those sentences sing. Engage your readers with that last bead of sweat. You can do it.
My question to you is, why don’t you? What’s the secret sauce? It seems everyone but you can hit the right notes. Where’s the missing part?
Well sit right back and read on. Yes, there’s a secret recipe. Now you know. It’s not what you think though.
You’ve churned out words, like the top…
Which incite a mysterious world of ice
Half a million years ago
Mountain peaks poke through
A barren sphere
Fire rages beneath winter white
Overcome by violent eruptions
Atmosphere filled with toxic fumes
An ever repeated cycle
Warmth heats all to liquid once more
Fuel inspires the growth of land
One ocean dwindles
Another one increases
The synchronization of balance
Beats forever in time
East sun up and west sun down
Chased by the moon
A planet spins on its axis
Seasons change as it tilts lower
Dry out the north then south
Magnetic poles shift
In the swamps of Florida sits the massive park of Disney World. Walt Disney’s vision of a children's wonderland of fantasy and joy. In 2018, a staggering 58 million visitors enjoyed the park. A place where kids are kids, and they dream to be there.
When Disney set out to build his park, he wanted his visitors to have a magical experience. His world included freedom from biting bugs. Situated smack dab in the middle of Florida’s swampland, it’d be hard to imagine.
Let’s face it, who wants bug bites? I have adverse reactions to mosquitoes. …
